Abstract

[...]GMB shows high rates of recurrence, and the 5-year survival rate is lower than 10% [5]. [...]novel therapeutics for GBM treatment are in urgent demand. [...]these results verified the inhibitory effect of 5-AcTMF on the long-term survival and proliferation of GBM cells. [...]to reveal the nature of 5-AcTMF-elicited cytotoxicity, the levels of PARP cleavage, a canonical hallmark of apoptosis, in 5-AcTMF-treated GBM cells were determined by immunoblotting. [...]our results specified that the 5-AcTMF-elicited downregulation of BCL-2 and BCL-xL is probably not achieved by evoking proteasome-mediated protein degradation, but rather, through impeding STAT3-mediated transcription. 2.5.
