L-3 Communications (LLL) has been selected by the Army to provide the data link in an upcoming technology demonstration that will link an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with manned airborne platforms, the company said yesterday.
L-3's data link was selected over tactical data links offered by Cubic (CUB) and a BAE SYSTEMS-Harris (HRS) team.
L-3's Tactical Common Data Link (TCDL) technology will be integrated into the Army's Hunter UAV and AH-64D Apache and A2C2S Black Hawk helicopters. With the data link the helicopters will be able to control the UAV and receive imagery from it.
