WEST HARTFORD, CONN.--Blum, Shapiro & Co. has become the largest independent CPA firm in New England with the swallowing of a Longmeadow, Mass.-based firm.
The merger with Meyers Brothers & Adeletti, with yearly volume of $2.5 million, will bump Blum Shapiro's $10.5 million in annual revenues to $13 million, just ahead of Tofias, Fleishman, Shapiro & Co. The Cambridge, Mass.-based firm reported revenues of $12.2 million for the fiscal year ending Oct. 31, 1993, according to Accounting Today's list of Top 60 firms.
The Meyers Brothers operation, founded in 1948, will become Blum Shapiro's second office and take the larger firm's name. Meyers Brothers' nine partners have become Blum Shapiro partners.
Stuart Meyers, the smaller firm's managing partner, will stay on as managing partner of the office in Longmeadow, which is in the Springfield area of western Massachusetts.
