Abstract: In this edition's music and healing series article, I have chosen to focus on the role of vibroacoustic therapy (VT) for persons living with dementia (PWD); through a focus on persons diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (AD). With the global rise in the aging population, it is a critical time to look into less traditional forms of therapy that provide symptom management in order to support the estimated increase in persons living with dementia in the next few decades. This piece will provide brief information on dementia and AD and the efficacy of music therapy and vibroacoustic therapy; alongside a description of VT, its potential benefits, and an overview of my collaborative studies which assessed VT in persons having AD.
