Most of Insight Communications Inc.'s Louisville-area employees soon will have a central location to call home after years of being, spread out among offices in Jefferson and surrounding counties.
A new, $7.5 million office building is under construction at Commerce Crossings, a 240-acre business park located near the Jefferson County-Bullitt County line.
The building will house most area operations of the New York City-based cable television and telecommunications company, according to Gregg Graff, senior vice president of operations for Insight in Louisville.
The 90,000-square-foot, two-story facility is expected to be completed in July, said Hal Heiner, president of Capstone Realty Inc., the developer of Commerce Crossings.
Insight's administration, technical operations, human resources, marketing, accounting and support services, as well as a customer service call center that operates in Shively and employs more than 100 will move to the new site.
Graff said he expects about 450 of the 550 Insight employees in the area to be relocated to the new facility
The only employees who will not move to the building are technicians working in areas distant from Commerce Crossings and those who will continue to operate Insight's 11 customer service centers scattered throughout the company's service region.
The centers are located in Okolona, StMatthews and Shively in Jefferson County; in Crestwood, Shepherdsville, Radcliff, Shelbyville and Brandenburg, Ky.; and in Jeffersonville, New Albany and Salem, Ind.
