Planetgarden.com is being fertilized with some Southern culture.
The Norcross Internet company has signed a deal with Southern Living magazine to become the exclusive e-tailer for the magazine known for gardening and culture in the South.
As part of the deal, Southern Living may Watch them grow: Randy Pike, left, of Pike Family Nurseries, and Charles Marto, the president and CEO of Planetgarden.com obtain equity in planetgarden.com, which benefits from crosspromotion in the magazine. Southern Living, based in Birmingham, Ala., is owned by Time Warner Inc.
Planetgarden.com also will give its customers access to Southern Living's archives on the Internet. This is the first time Southern Living has made its archives available to another business online.
Planetgarden.com launched its Web site in June with online content from "expert" gardeners from around the country. The company intends to begin selling merchandise
online later this month, starting with lawn and garden equipment and live plants.
The content from Southern living will come online in September.
