Quality's publisher Jim Losh was poking around a bookstore recently and came across a book that should be in the library of everyone who uses the Internet to search for information pertaining to manufacturing tools and techniques. The book is Manufacturing and the Internet, by Richard G. Mathieu. It is published by Engineering & Management Press, Norcross, GA, (770) 449-0461. Their Web site is http://www.enet.org and the book's list price is $34.95.
This is a very good resource, filled with information about Web sites covering 20 different aspects of manufacturing. Web sites are divided into areas such as agile manufacturing, quality management, statistical quality control, concurrent engineering, manufacturing strategy, and business-process reengineering. Novices will want to start with Chapter 1, which is a rather thorough primer on how to use the Internet.
