Método de Pólya como estrategia pedagógica para fortalecer la competencia resolución de problemas matemáticos con operaciones básicas

Abstract

Esta investigación se centró en la aplicación del método de Pólya como estrategia para fortalecer la resolución de problemas con operaciones básicas en estudiantes de los grados tercero y cuarto de primaria del Colegio Municipal Aeropuerto, utilizando un diseño cualitativo de tipo investigación acción. Si bien los estudiantes logran leer el enunciado de un problema, se debe tener en cuenta que presentan dificultades al analizar los datos, proponer una estrategia de solución y elegir el algoritmo indicado. Observando las dificultades anteriores se implementó una guía didáctica, estructurada en forma secuencial con la intención de abordar cada uno de los pasos de este método. Este trabajo brindó a los estudiantes la posibilidad de adquirir herramientas para interpretar los problemas matemáticos, mejorar sus competencias y motivarlos a enfrentarse a nuevos retos sin los temores que ha generado el área de matemáticas a lo largo de la vida escolar.

The investigation was based on the Pólya method used as a strategy to improve the problem solving skills in basic mathematical operations within third and fourth grades elementary school students at Colegio Municipal Aeropuerto; using a qualitative design in an action research approach. The results show the students understand the problems header, however it is necessary to be aware of their difficulties with the data analysis and choosing the strategy for the solution and the right Algorithm. Taking the last considerations it was possible to implement some activities to create a sequentially structured model to improve the needed skills for each of the steps used in this method. This investigation provided the students the necessary tools to understand and solve the mathematical problems, improve their skills and motivate them to face new challenges without the fear always associated the mathematics during school years.
