Competition among reservation software systems is heating up, as those in the Hawaii travel industry realize more consumers are going online to plan their vacations.
While HulaRez and AtcoRez Web-based reservation systems target activities vendors, EzRez Software has gone global and expanded its target base to include travel wholesalers, suppliers and vendors in all of the categories.
EzRez is growing, according to CEO Tina Fitch, with a staff that grew by 30 percent over the last year and an increasing presence on the mainland, Australia, the Caribbean and Europe. It has more than 750 partners and affiliates, including Hawaiian Airlines, Aloha Airlines, eBay Travels and Hotels.com.
Fitch said the firm aims to be the most comprehensive reservation system available with a global reach, but still plans to stay in Hawaii.
"We think Hawaii is an excellent laboratory for us because it is a microcosm of everything in the travel industry, in both efficiency and inefficiency," Fitch said. "This is a perfect market for us to work in. As a Hawaii company, we find that we're well positioned to serve our global base here."
With its network, EzRez gives travel wholesalers and agents access to hotel rooms, airfare, car rentals, ground transportation and activities all in one place, making it easier to create custom packages. Soon, time shares and cruises also will be available.
