USER'S GUIDE
The Business Record section provides news obtained from public records, which can be used as business leads. Here are some quick explanatons. If you have questons, please call Researcher Alaine Keisling at 236-4300.
BANKRUPTCIES
These include Chapter 7, 11 and 13 businessrelated filings. Creditors, vendors and suppliers may find these useful. Chapter 7 is liquidation and usually indicates a desire to terminate a business. Chapter 11 is reorganization and provides the opportunity to restructure finances and remain in business. Chapter 13 is for those with a regular income who cannot pay their debts.
MORTGAGES
Mortgages are a sign of economic activity and show the business properties that plan development. Each listing gives the name of the business or individual, the lender and the amount the business or individual borrowed. We include mortgages in the amount of $250,000 and above. This information is useful for lenders, real estate agents and developers.
LIENS
Liens include those filed against businesses by federal, state or municipal governments, as well as satisfied liens. This information may be useful to credit managers, loan officers, attorneys, collection agencies or vendors. Because of changes in county systems for recording tax-lien satsfactons, the Business Journal may not have published some satsfactons. If your company has satsfied a lien and you have not seen it published here, please fax copies of the satsfactions to 909-0538.
