The St Catherine of Siena Nursing Home in Newcastle, NSW, has announced its closure because of almost $2 million of debt, leaving 67 elderly residents in need of a new home.
Catholic Care of the Aged chief executive, Ralph Watson, said that it would also soon close St Joseph's at Lochinvar as soon as places could be found for its 21 residents.
The closures are also expected to leave 125 aged care staff out of work.
