David McCarver, CEO of Alameda Advertising and Recognition, knew a rewarding career move when he saw one.
Eleven years ago, he was working for a sporting goods company when he decided to open an awards shop.
"I saw a need for it," he said. His first assignment was providing trophies for Little League in Alameda. However, he soon discovered he also could fill a need for corporate promotions and recognition. The company now provides everything from awards, logo apparel, trade show product giveaways to company incentive programs.
"We got a big calling to step up into that industry," he said. "It was a good decision."
Now, McCarver sees managed growth as the best move for his company.
"What I really want for the company is to continue to provide for my family and my employees' families," he said. "It doesn't need to get huge, just continue on its growth path."
