Thanks to a major construction project, Nazareth Speedway has a new look for 1997 -- and race fans will have even better views of the 1-mile oval.
The front stretch grandstands have been replaced with a new, state-of-the-art, 37,000-seat grandstand made of structural steel and aluminum.
The top of the 42-row grandstand is 65 feet from the ground -- as high as a 6 1/2-story building -- and the bright, red-and-yellow colors can be seen from miles away.
"From the top of the new grandstand, you can see Allentown, Northampton and New Jersey," says Michael Moorehead, vice president and general manager of Nazareth Speedway.
"The new grandstand is so big and high, and the way it wraps around the tri-oval it really gives you an intimate, 'stadium' feel."
Moorehead says the grandstand work was coordinated by Southern Bleacher of Graham, Texas, which used Ulis Temos of Nazareth as its local installer.
