Whopping portions of meat and rich desserts are as American and as sacred as the flag, cow's milk, and the Colt .45. Don't even try to pry a man away from his 24-ounce sirloin. The pendulum is swinging away from those dainty little nouvelle meals. Now we're into getting big value for our money. "Money hasn't gone out of style," someone said just recently, "but spending has!"
At the Carson's Rib Houses in the Chicago area, favorite meals include half a slab of barbecued ribs plus: half a barbecued chicken, an America's Cut pork chop, and a 10-oz. prime New York steak. "The Giant," Carson's biggest steak, is 22 oz. and costs $24.95.
