NEWS BITES - PRIVATE COMPANIES
If you're a Scripps patient with a smart phone, tablet or computer, getting medical advice from a Scripps health provider has never been easier. Scripps E-Visits let you connect with a Scripps provider online to get care now for minor health problems, such as a sore throat or eye infection right from your device - no office visit needed.
Using any device with an internet connection, you can start an E-Visit online and receive a detailed care plan from a Scripps provider, usually within 30 minutes. The entire process is done online, so you can avoid leaving phone messages or waiting for an email response. Plus, E-Visits are available early, late and on weekends for your convenience, allowing you to get the help you need even when your doctor's office is closed or you're out of town.
"An E-Visit can be a convenient option when you need care now without a visit to the office," says David Wetherhold, MD, Scripps internal medicine physician and Scripps chief medical information officer for ambulatory care. "These types of virtual visits are becoming more common for minor conditions that don't require in-person care."
E-Visits can be used to get care online for conditions such as:
Cold/flu (excluding cough) Pink eye Urinary symptoms in women Vaginal irritation or discharge
E-Visits are not appropriate for severe or life-threatening symptoms. If you need emergency care, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room. What to expect during an E-Visit
After you've logged on to the E-Visit through MyScripps, you'll complete a health questionnaire and answer questions about your symptoms. If you have photos that may help the provider better understand your concern, such as an eye infection, you'll be able to send those as well.
After you submit your information, a Scripps provider will review it and send you a written care plan, usually within 30 minutes. If your care plan includes a prescription, the provider will send an electronic prescription to your pharmacy for pick-up.
As with a doctor's appointment, your E-Visit health information is secure and private. If you attach photos, they will be added to your electronic health record, where they can be seen only by you and your providers.
