- Jeff Jetter, senior chemist, Honda R&D North American Inc. To aid in California's war on air pollution, Honda has developed the first ultra-low-emission vehicle (ULEV) to reach the standard using California Phase II RFG. Honda conducted extensive research into the new technologies required to develop a ULEV for mass production, and developed the vehicle based on the Accord model, said Jeff Jetter, senior chemist for Honda R&D North American Inc. Honda's ULEV, which will be released in the 1998 model year, reduces emissions by 90% over conventional engines.
