NOLA Brewing has joined several local companies now producing hand sanitizer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company says it's still brewing and selling packaged beer-to-go, but most of its efforts have turned to making hand sanitizer for local businesses and hospitals.
The first batch of sanitizer was released to a local grocery chain on March 27, a news release said. The company says it will continue to produce more for distribution to local grocery chains, hospitals and banks.
The sanitizer is available for purchase at Langenstein's stores, The Fresh Market and Calandro's Supermarket in Baton Rouge. The brewery said it also produced a large amount for a local hospital and a local bank. The brewery is not selling the hand sanitizer directly to individuals in order to limit the number of people coming in.
The Sazerac Company said last week that it has begun producing sanitizer for some of the world's largest organizations in thehealth care, government, military, retail, distribution, airline, pharmacy and banking industries.
Porchjam Distillery is using its Mid-City vodka distillery to produce sanitizer, and Celebration Distillation has diverted rum production to making sanitizer.
