Civil servants, by insisting that colleges of education should diversify and link with the further education sector, are probably one of the best supporters of reform in education at the moment, Mr Eric Robinson, deputy director of the North-East London Polytechnic, told a conference organized by the Further Left magazine at Central London Polytechnic on Saturday.
