More notable figures have been added to the Rebel Women of Sunderland project as it flies the flag for females who’ve broken the mould.
To celebrate International Women's Day on Sunday, March 8, Sunderland Culture has revisited their popular Rebel Women of Sunderland project by unveiling a further four pioneering women from Sunderland.
The new stories and artworks will go on show from Saturday, March 7, alongside the original ten, at Pop Recs Ltd in Stockton Road where they will be accompanied by a day of International Women’s Day themed arts activism activities from 11am-4pm.
The new Rebel Women of Sunderland announced are:
::Florence Collard: Shipbuilder,
::Ellen Bell: Sunderland's first female councillor,
::Nadine Shah: Musician,
::Aly Dixon: Marathon runner.
