Abstract
Many people agree leaders need humility, but many are puzzled over how acquiring humility might actually be part of leadership development. I found the character traits that leaders need to develop are best fostered with a unique combination of experiential learning and outdoor adventure. The outdoors spaces provide a superb setting that helps to foster these character traits. Humility seems to be the most important character trait, because it provides a mindset that assists with the development of other character traits. I believe that when leaders begin with a humble heart, they will be better able to develop all of the other character traits they need to be effective in leading others in shaping an effective future. The most important reason to take a serious look at humility is indeed the fact that, with humility, leaders can become the most effective change agents for good.
