Abstract

The paper shows the evolution of crime novel in Venezuela, with special attention to the relevant writers during 20th century. In this way, the paper thinks about the unity and diversity ofVenezuelan crime novel and his value as instrument of cultural identity. Keywords: Venezuelan detective novel, violence, Venezuelan literature, noir novel, crime. La misión del detective está en reconocer los signos indelebles incorporados en el cadáver de la víctima que señalan la culpabilidad de una sociedad corrupta y decadente donde el crimen se gesta y reproduce como una enfermedad social.
