Abstract
The site of an intentionally abandoned vessel will differ greatly from the site of a shipwreck lost unintentionally. As such, the processes of site development will also differ greatly between these two types of sites. This research addresses this by using the remains of four abandoned vessels located a cove known as Shields Point found on the Blackwater River in Santa Rosa, Florida as a research sample. Both the histories of the vessels as well as the surrounding area are examined to establish a historical record for this project while borrowing theoretical concepts associated with site development. This research yields a new adapted concept based on previous ideas of shipwreck site development to now focus on the sites of intentionally abandoned vessels.
