Once again it's drum'n'bass which will dominate at the country's two biggest parties this New Year's Eve as Life, Helter Skelter's show in Milton Keynes, goes head to head against Slammin' Vinyl's equally massive bash at Shepton Mallet. After the sad summer closure of the Sanctuary, it's in Helter Skelter's new home at the Plaza and is licensed for 6,000, with 11 music arenas covering all shades of drum'n'bass, techno, house and breaks. and midnight sets from the likes of Grooverider, Hixxy, Vibes and Paul Glazby. Along with the ticket price comes an all-night fun fair and tenpin bowling, a free drink (only one, mind), PlayStation games and a cinema. jm
