CLEARFIELD -- Utility Trailer Inc. has purchased 59 acres of property near the Clearfield-Layton border in anticipation of building a larger plant.
Todd Smith, Utility employee relations manager, said the California-based firm purchased the land about two months ago because of space limitations at its plant in the Freeport Center.
"Expansion is non-existent where we are at," he said.
Smith said the land, just west of the Denver Rio Grande Railroad tracks on the south side of Antelope Drive, will be developed in the next four to eight years as a new manufacturing center for construction of refrigerated trailers.
