A 42-year-old woman developed seizures, generalised clonic seizure and generalised myoclonic jerks during treatment with bupropion, lithium and propofol [routes not stated].
The woman had a history of recurrent depressive disorder, for which she underwent an outpatient right-unilateral (RUL) ultrabrief electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Since 2009, when she was 33 years old, she had been treated with various antidepressants and underwent 3 courses of ECT without any complications. Since 2016, she had been receiving lithium 1200mg per day, bupropion 150mg per day along with fluoxetine and olanzapine and had a stable condition. However, in May 2018, when her depressive condition worsened, she commenced a new course of ECT treatment. During May to December 2018, she underwent 7 sessions of RUL-ECT.
