Philippines : PH, Indonesian Consulates General Sign and Submit Joint Demarche to Office of the Ombudsman of Hong Kong

Philippine Consul General to Hong Kong Raly L. Tejada and Indonesian Consul General Ricky Suhendar signed a joint demarche to the Office of the Ombudsman of Hong Kong on issues related to boarding facilities for Foreign Domestic Helpers (FDH) on 11 February 2021.

After a briefing signing ceremony, both Consuls General proceeded to the Office of the Ombudsman to submit the document. Assistant Ombudsman Sara Tse received the joint demarche.

Earlier this year, the Ombudsman initiated an inquiry on boarding facilities for FDHs. The joint demarche was a response to the Ombudsmans request for recommendations regarding the matter.

The joint demarche mainly called for improved living conditions for boarding facilities and sought the Hong Kong governments assistance in ensuring that appropriate health and safety standards are put in place to ensure the well-being of FDHs among others.
