After several long years of mockery, it seems that the chav- bashing backlash has now begun. Michael Carroll (above, right), the so-called 'King of Chavs', won pounds 9.7m on the National Lottery in 2002. Aged 19 and not long out of a young offenders' institution, his win caused quite a stir in middle England and he has been a permanent fixture in the tabloids ever since. Enter Keith Allen (above, left), who is somewhat bemused by Carroll's vilification and keen to prove with his documentary that there is more to the young man than the 'lotto lout' depicted in the red-tops.
