VIKINGS OUSTED FROM DIVISION II TOURNEY
Kasey Morlock scored 20 points as three-time defending champion North Dakota State breezed to a 91-65 victory over last year's runnerup, Portland State, in Wednesday's Division II quarterfinals in Fargo, N.D.
North Dakota State (28-2) never trailed in the contest, coming out of the gate with a 6-0 run.
Portland State (25-5) was called for six fouls in the first 3:01, including two on leading scorer Kristi Smith. Kim Manifesto, the Vikings' other key offensive threat, had four fouls in the first half. Portland trailed 56-33 at the intermission and never got closer than 19 points in the second half.
