Abstract

Currently, there is no specific treatment for TBE. [...]it is extremely important to prevent infection by vaccination [4]. Despite TBE clinical importance, many aspects of TBEV infection and pathogenesis remain unclear. [...]investigating the human immune response to this infection is important to gain further understanding into treatment and prevention of the disease. [...]our findings reveal a key role for TBEV molecules, namely E glycoprotein and viral RNA, in activating pDC and, in turn, in establishing the antiviral immune response. [...]we compared the effects induced on PBMC by Encepur and the single components, namely I-TBEV, excipient containing aluminum hydroxide and sucrose.
