The path to becoming a public company leads through Mars for Labtec Inc.
The Vancouver company Wednesday announced a merger with the firm that made the controller for the Sojourner rover, which traveled on Mars last year.
The merger partner is Spacetec IMC Corp., a Massachusetts company that makes three-dimensional input control devices for designers, industrial users and computer game enthusiasts. It is publicly-traded on the Nasdaq exchange.
The new company will retain the Labtec name, the Labtec executive team and the Vancouver headquarters, but will use Spacetec's status to become a public company. Spacetec's design and marketing team will remain in Lowell, Mass.
