Abstract

[...]this issue remained controversial, as other studies have showed that there is no association between BMI and survival during the influenza pandemic [16]. [...]in this study, we aimed at evaluating the relationship between BMI and severe COVID-19, especially fatality. The age variable was given as a categorical variable in units of 10 years, but we calculated the odds ratio of every 10 years as a continuous variable. Since dementia had missing data (n = 314) that were not replaced, 3827 participants were included in the multivariable analysis. Since this group is of normal weight according to the WHO classification [24], and a previous study reported a BMI cutoff value of Koreans as 24.2 kg/m2 [25].
