Abstract

In this work, synthesis of two novel donor-acceptor small molecules based on donor 9-phenyl-9H-carbazole and acceptor hexyl-dicyanovinyl units was carried out. A comparative analysis of these molecules differing in the position of bithiophene π-spacer at the carbazole block only showed that changing the position allows to fine-tune absorption spectra, HOMO value, bandgap and phase behaviour of the materials.
