The 13th named storm of the season, Matthew developed out of a sprawling mass of clouds that covered much of the Gulf. Forecaster James Franklin of the National Hurricane Center said Matthew could move in almost any direction, or even dissipate, but seemed most likely to make landfall Monday in the Florida Panhandle. Even when it reaches land, though, it is likely to be just a weak tropical storm or tropical depression. NEW YORK FBI agents dig for remains of alleged victims of Gotti Acting on a tip from an underworld informant, a team of FBI agents has begun digging for the remains of a half dozen or more victims of hits ordered by John Gotti and other mobsters more than two decades ago. No findings were reported during the first four days of digging this week. The job was expected to continue Friday and beyond. The suspected burial ground is on Ruby Street, just west of Kennedy Airport. Times reporter reluctant to reveal secret source NEW YORK - A New York Times reporter said Friday that she is deeply reluctant to divulge a confidential source to prosecutors investigating the leak of an undercover CIA officer's identity, even if the source permitted her to do so. Judith Miller faces up to 18 months in jail for refusing to cooperate with prosecutors investigating the leak. Miller, who gathered material for a story but never wrote one, was held in contempt Thursday by a federal judge in Washington. She said she would have to be certain the source's decision to be identified "is really voluntary" before she considered disclosing the source's name. U.S. District Judge Thomas F. Hogan said Miller could remain free while pursuing an appeal.
