This September 16 marks the 19th anniversary of the questioned Operation Orion in Medellin. Social leaders, relatives of the victims and the community in general attended an event with cultural events to commemorate the date.
Citizens of the area where the operation took place between October 16 and 17, 2002, said they are still searching for answers about the murders and disappearances that occurred during the takeover of the San Javier neighborhood authorities in Comuna 13.
The event to commemorate the 19th anniversary of Operation Orion was organized by the Comuna 13 School Museum of Memory and was held at the Eduardo Santos school.
"We must continue to search for the truth, continue to search for the disappeared in the rubbish dump, we must seek by all means a minimally symbolic reparation for the families who lost their people, and tell the government that these events of terror should not happen again," said Manuel Lopez, director of the School Museum, at the event.
