It was the Victorian period revisited Thursday evening as the board of trustees of the Reitz Home Preservation Society sponsored its annual membership event, a Victorian Lawn Party, in the carriage house and on the grounds of the Reitz Home Museum at 224 SE First St.Margaret and Bill Wallace, chairmen of the event, welcomed guests as they arrived at 6 p.m. They began the evening in the Reitz Home Museum's Carriage House with such Victorian fare as herbed Boursin cheese, English cucumber with ginger butter, sandwiches of turkey with sun-dried tomato cream cheese and chicken salad, fruit, cheese, pie and ice cream.Following supper, guests strolled out onto the lawn to enjoy the garden, play croquet, have a look at Russell Boyle's 1909 Maxwell, listen to the period musical stylings of a barbershop quartet consisting of James Schellhase, tenor; Paul Klingelhoefer, tenor; Bill Pace, bass; and Glen Hawkins, baritone.Later on they settled down for an antique review (aka appraisals) with enlightenments from Jim Sanders, Bob McCarty of Goldman's Pawn Shop, Mary Ruth Oakley, Mary Dannettell, Rosemary Geiss and Agatha Haile .Mayor Russ Lloyd Jr.,...
