Oklahoma City's only locally owned and operated television station, KOCB Channel 34, will lose that status in early December.
Federal Communication Commission approval for sale of the station to Superior Communications Group Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pa., was granted last week. Sale of the station will be completed following a 40-day waiting period that will end Nov. 29, said Ted Baze, KOCB general manager and president, who owns 100 percent of the station's stock.
"We have a 10-day period after that until Dec. 9 to close the sale," Baze said.
Plans for sale of the station to Superior Communications Group, which also owns WDKY-TV, the Fox Network affiliate in Lexington, Ky., were announced during the summer by Baze. Superior is owned by an investor group headed by Chairman Albert M. Holt and President Perry A. Sook.
