Oak Park High proved its ability to dominate a cross country meet Friday afternoon.
With Rio Mesa, Fillmore, Santa Barbara and Oxnard joining Oak Park in each school?s first meet of the season, Oak Park runners placed first and second in three of the four races. Runners navigated a three-mile course at College Park in Oxnard.
Oak Park?s young runners started the team?s successful afternoon. Ryan Hopkins and Anthony Pondella finished first and second in the freshman-sophomore race.
Numerous runners in the girls? freshman-sophomore race were confused by the race?s layout and went the wrong way at an early turn.
In the girls? junior-senior race, Lauren Morales of Oak Park finished first in 18:26 followed by teammate Tatiana Camacho at 18:39.
