Moorpark television writer Joan Considine Johnson is celebrating her mother's life with a special "Doc" episode premiering at 8 tonight on PAX.
"Yeah it's a heartbreaker. I teared up watching it and I was in it" said star Andrea Robinson. She plays nurse Nancy whose mother will die soon from cancer unless she chooses radical experimental treatments.
"We'll be supplying Kleenex" Johnson said with a gentle chuckle. Johnson Robinson and star Billy Ray Cyrus talked about the episode during separate phone interviews.
The story is inspired by Johnson's mother Dorothy Considine a Warren Ohio native who died Feb. 4 from complications from lung cancer and a brain tumor. Johnson said she will be in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio tonight to watch the episode with her father on what is both Mother's Day and his birthday.
Johnson a "Doc" creative consultant has written previous "Doc" episodes and stories for Nickelodeon's "Rugrats" and "The Wild Thornberrys." She is married to Gary R. Johnson. He and David Alan Johnson are the Moorpark brothers who are the creators and executive producers of "Doc" which stars country singer Cyrus as Clint Cassidy a sensitive Montana physician working at a New York City clinic.
Tonight Robinson's character Nancy wants her mother to go through experimental treatments for whatever extra time it might extend her life. But her mother played effectively by Janet-Laine Green doesn't want...
