Many of those who went to event used shuttle buses, organizers say
Although attendance was down slightly, organizers for last weekend's California Strawberry Festival said Monday that sales were up and crowd control was a success.
Organizers expanded the shuttle bus system this year, adding more stops in Oxnard and Camarillo. As a result, nearly 11,000 people rode the buses. Assuming four people per car, about 2,700 vehicles were removed from Ventura County roads over the weekend, according to Durham Buses, the festival's shuttle contractor.
