Peter Scolari sits in the den of his home in Ojai, Calif., his 2 1/2-year-old son, Joey, at his feet, and a smile of contentment on his face.
It's been some three years since Scolari ended his run as supercilious yuppie Michael on "Newhart." Two years ago, he and his wife, Debra, moved to the ranchette community about an hour's drive from Hollywood with Joey and Michael, now 4.
Now Peter's returning to the tube as the star of the fall-debuting CBS series "Family Album." He's excited about the show _ but has decided mixed emotions about relocating in Los Angeles with its congestion and crime.
"We moved to Ojai because we wanted a different life. There would be no nanny for our children. We'd raise the children ourselves, and we have. My wife is an artist and a designer and we split up responsibilities with the kids. Most of the time the four of us are together _ we like it that way."
