A first-class Farm Heritage Museum would be a big educational plus for the community: On that, everybody seems to be on the same page in Oxnard.
Whether the proposed museum should be built at the old Oxnard High School in downtown Oxnard or at College Park is what has residents at odds.
Tuesday, more than a dozen opponents and supporters armed with heated words, passionate pleas and strong arguments weighed in on the dispute during the public comments portion of the City Council meeting.
The verbal tug-of-war came after the Ventura County Museum of History & Art gave the council a presentation on its proposal for a museum at the park.
Museum architect and advocate George Lauterbach and Susan Caughey, president of the board of the Ventura County Museum of History & Art, said the proposed museum belongs at College Park.
