Friday Night Live encourages teens to live healthy lifestyles

A youth-driven program geared toward helping adolescents deal with problems and prepare for adulthood is slated to begin this month at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme.
Friday Night Live, a national program implemented in several Ventura County cities since 1984, is launching a chapter in Oxnard, said Irma Rochin, a parent who spearheaded the effort after she couldn't find a local program for her 14-year-old daughter.
Rochin, an adviser to the Oxnard chapter, believes the program will give youths the tools needed to be successful in the future.
