(Flashbacks) 100 Years Ago Feb. 17, 1896 - Milwaukee East |
Side High School defeats the Battery
team, 6-3, in a basketball game at the Armory. Roy Rogers scored four of
East's six points on free throws. The Battery team left the court before the game ended because Capt. McAllister took exception to the rulings of the referee.

Feb. 15, 1946 Milwaukee North defeats Milwaukee West, 32-27, to clinch at least a tie for the North Section title in the City
Conference. A free throw by Harry Davis and two baskets by Norb Schulze
in the closing minutes won it for North.

Feb. 12, 1971 Nicolet clinches its first Braveland Conference boys basketball title with an 80-62 victory over visiting Brookfield Central. The Knights, who had finished second in the conference the previous three seasons, were led by Barry Stampfl with 18 points. Larry Costello, coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, was one of 1,800 spectators in the Nicolet gym.
Feb. 13, 1971 Wauwatosa West wins seven individual events and finishes with 282 points to win the Suburban Conference swimming title. West's victory ended Waukesha's 11-year reign as conference champion. The Blackshirts finished second with 2181/2 points.
