Abstract
The success of Response to Intervention (RtI) involves more than a clear vision. In fact, Kratochwill et al. (2007a) suggested fidelity of implementation is an important predictor of student outcomes. The purpose of this mixed method approach study was to identify factors associated with RtI Tier 1 implementation as measured by the Reform Readiness Survey and semi-structured interviews. The following research questions guided this study: (1) Are teachers aware of Response to Intervention reform? (2) Are teachers aware of the impacts Tier 1 interventions have on student learning? and (3) What factors influence teachers’ decision-making to implement Tier 1 interventions? Participants in this study answered online survey questions, and selected participants participated in the interview process. The researcher expected to identify descriptive data on demographic variables of those teachers who are aware of the impact Tier 1 interventions have on student outcome. Concurrently, the researcher expected to understand a teacher’s paradigm when making decisions to implement Tier 1 interventions.
