The first Hindu temple in the state will rise early next year on the grounds of a 22-acre forest preserve in Waukesha County, serving an exploding population of immigrants from India drawn to Wisconsin technological jobs and other professions.
Once constructed, the $1 million temple will serve about 1,000 Indian families who now have to make a long trip to the nearest Hindu temples in Aurora and Lemont, Ill.
