Good as gold: Jansen is enjoying retirement

Kearns, Utah -- Retirement agrees with Dan Jansen, who is no longer on our tax rolls but still in our thoughts whenever an Olympic year comes along.
You'd feel pretty good, too, if you could retire at age 36, but then you never won a gold medal. West Allis' youngest legend did it eight whole years ago, if you can believe that, and it changed everything but his personality.
It's fair to say he's famous now and maybe on his way to being rich. But somehow his head has never gotten around to noticing the fuss.
Had Jansen failed to win his last Olympic race in Hamar, Norway, it's highly unlikely that he would be analyzing the speedskating action for NBC at this year's Games. He probably wouldn't have carried the torch with Bonnie Blair in the...
