Uma Missão Chamada Cuidar. Projeto de Intervenção Social Desenvolvido Numa Estrutura Residencial Para Pessoas Idosas

Abstract

O presente relatório refere-se ao trabalho desenvolvido ao longo de nove meses, numa estrutura residencial para idosos, situada no norte de Portugal.

“Uma missão chamada Cuidar” foi um projeto desenvolvido de acordo com a metodologia de investigação-ação participativa (IAP), assente numa ação conjunta e num processo de construção de conhecimento contínuo. Foram privilegiadas técnicas de investigação diversas, como as conversas intencionais estabelecidas com diferentes atores sociais, a observação participante e a análise documental. Como modelo avaliativo, foi utilizado o modelo de avaliação CIPP (Contexto, Entrada/Input, Processo e Produto; Stufflebeam & Shinkfield, 1995).

Este projeto teve como principal finalidade “melhorar a qualidade de vida das pessoas idosas, promovendo a sua participação ativa e o empoderamento dos principais prestadores de cuidados para uma intervenção mais humanizada”. Assente na reflexão constante acerca das práticas institucionais vigentes e nas necessidades identificadas.

ara concretizar os objetivos gerais definidos no projeto foram desenvolvidas quatro ações: “Quero os meus dias com sentido”, “Letras que escrevo, coração que aquece”, “Uma missão chamada Cuidar” e “Refletir para crescer”. Foi possível observar-se uma melhoria ao nível das relações interpessoais dos idosos e o empoderamento dos principais prestadores de cuidados para uma intervenção mais humanizada.

Salienta-se que a participação voluntária, o desejo de mudança e a disponibilidade para agir foram o caminho e a chave para a construção de uma intervenção assente na premissa de cuidar de alguém, numa situação de maior fragilidade.

This report relates the work developed during the course of nine months in one of the residential structures for the elderly in one of the cities of northern Portugal.

This project is entitled “A mission called taking care” and uses the participatory action research (IAP) methodology. The IAP methodology favors direct and joint action in a process of continuous knowledge construction. Several research techniques were privileged, such as intentional conversations with different social actors, participant observation and document analysis. The CIPP evaluation model (Contexto, Input, Processo e Produto; Stufflebeam& Shinkfield, 1995) was the method used in this work.

The main purpose of this project was to “improve the quality of life of the elderly by promoting their active participation and the empowerment of key care providers for a more humane intervention”. Such intervention was based on a constant reflection on current institutional practices and identified needs.

The project presented here is organized into four major actions, the first called “I want my days with meaning”, the second action “Letters I write, heartwarming”, the third act “A mission called taking Care” and finally, the last action, “Reflect to grow”. It was possible to observe an improvement in the interpersonal relations of the elderly and the empowerment of the main caregivers for a more humanized intervention.

Voluntary participation, the desire for change and willingness to act were the way and the key to building an intervention based on the premise of caring for someone, in a situation of greater fragility.
