Forget about W-101. They're dead. Don't even think about them any more. Gone. History. Ghost.
W-101 itself wants you to simply put it out of your mind and move on.
Beginning next week, quite handily the week of our nation's Independence Day, 100.7-WUSA, is at last taking full advantage of its patriotic call letters.
The station has called itself "Double You One Oh One" since switching from a beautiful music format in 1983. (Remember "Joy 100.7, WJYW?")
"In this digital age, the time has come to identify our exact dial position, 100.7," station general manager Jay Cook said in a press release.
Incidentally, the station is not reinventing itself any further than its name: "One Hundred Point Seven, WUSA" will continue its '70s, '80s and '90s music format.
