It's one of those Catch-22 things. David Blair Motorsports doesn't have a sponsor because the team hasn't performed well. And Blair will tell you his No. 27 Ford Thunderbird team hasn't performed well because it doesn't have a sponsor.
Which is it?
Blair has run out of time trying to figure it out. After racing in just eight events this season, he announced last week that the team is suspending operations to concentrate on landing a sponsor for next season. The team is 40th in the series standings after finishing 21st at last week's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte.
"The reality is that we're deep into the season," said Blair, who bought the team from retired owner Junior Johnson last season. "We're approaching the halfway point and the reality is that not many (sponsorship) deals are done on a half-a-season basis."
