Mi trabajo se divide en tres capítulos, cada uno correspondiente a un momento preciso del desarrollo de la etiqueta novela de la Revolución. En el primer apartado hago una revisión teórica del concepto, para contextualizar la metodología que utilizo, así como para dimensionar la problemática. El segundo capítulo lleva por nombre “El nacionalismo en la cultura y en la literatura: la novela de la Revolución mexicana antes de la novela de la Revolución mexicana”, y en él expongo el contexto cultural en el que surge y se desarrolla la novela de la Revolución. En el último capítulo analizo el establecimiento de la novela de la Revolución, desde la óptica de la recepción y los paratextos.

Como veremos en las siguientes páginas, la novela de la Revolución mexicana es más que un grupo de obras que retratan la realidad de la más reciente guerra civil, un símbolo cultural en el apogeo del nacionalismo, el antes y el después de la literatura mexicana del siglo XX, o una página más en los anales de las historias literarias. La novela de la Revolución es el resultado de una simbiosis cultural, artística y editorial que encontró cabida en un momento específico. La novela de la Revolución no es sólo un hito de nuestros tiempos, es un concepto tan abierto que sigue vigente (recordemos las nuevas novelas históricas de la Revolución que se publicaron a raíz de los festejos del centenario). Y por su misma apertura, aún tenemos un largo camino crítico por recorrer.

My work is divided into three chapters, each one corresponding to a precise moment in the development of the novel label of the Revolution. The novel of the Revolution is not only a landmark of our times, it is such an open concept that it is still valid (remember the new historical novels of the Revolution that were published as a result of the centenary celebrations). And by its very openness, we still have a critical long way to go.
